Item Description
The Shadow emerged from the dark world of Pulps to take over radio, comics and merchandising. He was one of the most popular characters of the thirties and forties. Street and Smith, the publisher of the title, knew they had a winner when they licensed the property and they treated him like one. The title lasted almost ten years. The early covers of the comics were reprinted from pulp covers. This issue sees the beginning of The Shadow, Doc Savage, Bill Barnes, Frank Merriwell, Nick Carter, Iron Munro, and the Astonishing Man. The pages are off-white.
