Item Description
Whitman #996 published in 1940. 11.25” X 17 7/8” die cut book with 6 single sided pages. Die cut book has large image of Baby Sandy spanning entire length of book at side with her dog Lucky who could also be punched out. Back cover features body of Baby Sandy in a high chair with no head, as this was another “costume” with accessories that could be used with doll. Inside front cover features photo of Queen Holden painting Baby Sandy and photo images of Baby Sandy as well as inside back cover. Printed letter on inside front cover reads “Dear Children: Queen Holden came all the way to Hollywood to paint my picture for you. The photograph shows her doing it. It was lots of fun to watch her draw and then to see myself on the paper. I hope you like playing with my picture and clothes as much as I like having them drawn. Baby Sandy” Costumes are uncut and costumes un-punched. Book has some handling wear and dust soiling to front cover with some light age spotting and staining at bottom at back cover. Book has pinch creases and a ¾” pen mark by Baby Sandy’s feet which do not affect doll. FN with VF pages.
