Item Description
Lot of six pieces including two mailing envelopes, one is illustrated and other has illustrated mailing label. 1940s. Lot includes illustrated club letters, one dated Sept. 14, 1942 that mentions contest and new issue of "Captain Marvel Adventures." Other letter is undated and mentions various Fawcett comic titles including "Captain Marvel Adventures, Whiz Comics, Captain Marvel Jr., Blue Beetle" and others. Both have lt. even aging and have been folded as mailed. VF. Larger envelope has "Remember Pearl Harbor" post office imprint. Smaller envelope has moisture staining along bottom edge and both show scattered handling wear. Fine overall. "Captain Marvel's Magic Membership Card" features flip-up illustrations of Captain Marvel and alter ego Billy Batson. Penciled name on reverse. Scattered handling. Fine/VF. 4x5.5" paper picture of Mary Marvel w/"'Here's Mary Marvel' Look For Her In Captain Marvel Adventures" text. Moisture staining along right margin. Fine. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire and all are the photo examples from his book "Shazam!: The Golden Age Of The World's Mightiest Mortal."
