Item Description
2-3/8x4" long copper highlighted cast iron turtle w/hinge along right side of turtle's shell, allowing for celluloid covered shell to lift, revealing mirror underneath w/open compartment. Celluloid portion has text reading "The Nassau Bank Safe Deposit Vaults - Safe - Solid- Sound" w/shell pattern around edges. This has Whitehead & Hoag marking at bottom. Most of these turtle paperweights were produced in smaller sizes, this being one of just a handful we've offered w/hinged mirror on the back. Scattered aging and nice patina. VF/Exc.
