Item Description
Archival mat has 10.5x14.75" India ink image area in center w/well-dressed man seated w/newspaper and wife standing nearby. Caption printed in magazine read - "Mrs. Newlywed: The Night You Proposed You Acted Like A Fish Out Of Water. Mr. Newlywed: I Was - And Cleverly Landed, Too." Reverse has "Dec. 28, 1901" stamped date. Grant has signed at lower right, adding "1901" date. Minor trace of aging at bottom, o/w Exc. Gordon Grant (1875-1962) worked at "Puck" from 1901 to 1909, eventually going on to great fame, w/his paintings setting record prices. His "Old Ironsides" painting is on display in the White House and his work is also displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC.
