The earliest piece, c. 1932 with very young FDR  photo, is 4.25" tall. At top is a copper luster frame holding a blank name card. Reverse has pin plus second bar which once held a ribbon now gone. From a loop a pair of chains suspend a white metal frame holding 7/8" cello. Varnish is off the metal so some of it has a whitish surface oxidation color but still Fine and the celluloid is essentially Mint as issued. Only example we've seen. Next at 1.75" is draped flag portrait button similar to Hake #21 but this button has no text. Used in 1936. Exc. and displays Mint.  Last is the rarest item in this group. It is 1.25" with a Chicago union bug on the curl. Pictured is a smiling FDR photo surrounded by "Montana Silver Dollar Club/Wheeler-Murray-Ayers-Monaghan." This button is from 1936 as these names represent both Montana Senators and state's two congressmen. Normally this button has a silver background but in this case about half the background has a silver tone and about half has a muted gold tone. The gold tone is not stain but rather areas where somehow the silver flashing on the foil like paper beneath the celluloid somehow dissipated. Our example with much more silver background in Auction #215 exceeded $600. Other than the silver/gold visual combination, condition of the button is Exc.
