Item Description
"High Times" is a long-running publication devoted to, and advocating the legalization of marijuana, publishing its first issue in 1974. Long influential within the counterculture, past contributors have included - Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, Truman Capote, Hunter S. Thompson and Andy Warhol among others. Offered here are artist Mark Arminski's original approval sketch featuring a colored marker design that features a very similar design to that of the final printed poster. 14-1/8x17" sheet of paper has large central marijuana leaf against checkerboard bkg. and large "High Times" name at top w/"25th Anniversary - 1974-1999" text. Banner at bottom has Celebrating 25 Years Of Counter Culture" text. All text is hand-lettered and Arminski has signed below art. Sheet has some handling wear w/1.25" tear along center right and two areas of surface paper lift (w/small tear by one) from tape removal at top margin. Fine overall, but art remains unaffected and would display Exc. if matted and framed. Also comes w/8-7/8x12" artboard w/acetate overlay. Artboard has original airbrush art for poster bkg. which Arminski has bordered w/his distinct designs. He has signed bottom right, adding "Background 'High Times - 25th'" notation at lower left. Exc. Art comes w/24.5x36.5" glossy poster printed by Global One Distribution & Merchandising, Inc. Arminski has signed at bottom center. NM. Mark Arminski Archives and comes w/COA.
