8x12.5x1-7/8" deep cardboard box w/illustrated contains 6.5" long replica of detective pistol in bright silver finish luster over white metal plus dark brown marbled/textured plastic grips. 1960s. Bottom of box shows obvious wear w/large areas w/tape repairs. .25" to .5x1" pieces missing at bottom of one corner. Good/VG overall though lid remains free of splits and is still VF for display. Gun is designed for holding toy bullets and firing single Greenie Stik-M-Caps as cylinder rotates when trigger is pulled. Raised "Shootin' Shell Snub-Nose .38" text on left-hand side, right-hand side has Mattel name and logo on grip. Right grip has scattered melt marks and cylinder has some aging, but o/w gun shows little use or wear. VF/Exc. Comes w/stiff vinyl shoulder holster measuring 13.5" tall to top of shoulder strap and six complete "Shootin' Shells" and three extra plastic bullet tips. VF-Exc. Comes w/original instruction sheet and 7x11" "Pistol Range Target" w/perforated stand flaps at bottom. Target has even moderate aging and is Fine/VF while instructions are Exc. Set also includes vinyl wallet w/"MDS - Mattel Detective Squad" ID card (w/inked name/initials) And 2-1/8" tall "private detective" plastic badge. VF/Exc.
