Item Description
Not only rare because of their severely limited distribution to a handful of participants, these two are especially rare because of the rarely seen specified distances of 150 and 200 miles. In this turn of the 20th century era, a bicycle ride of 100 miles, known as a "Century" was deemed worthy of a medal and we cannot recall ever previously seeing awards for these extraordinary distances. The "150 Miles" badge is enamel on at least silver plate and 2-1/8" tall. Center logo "MW" likely for Massachusetts Wheelmen, with surrounding text "Annual Triangle Oct. 27, 1901" with reverse having "150" at center of triangle design naming "Boston/Prov./Worcester". Speck of enamel off numeral "5" and expected tarnish. Made by "Dorrety/Boston" Overall VF. Second is 2-3/8" tall enamel on brass made by Allen, Doane & Co. Boston. Hanger names "Mass. Div." with letters on top three segments likely standing for Century Road Club along with date of "'04". At center is wheel design and "Double Century" designating a 200 mile ride. Very faint age tone on very bottom two points of enamel. Rest is essentially Mint.
