Item Description
India Edwards began working in the Democratic Party in 1944 and quickly rose in the ranks of the Women's Division becoming Executive Director in 1948. She was elected to the Democratic National Committee in 1950, serving as vice-chair 1950-1956. In 1952, her name was included, as a symbolic gesture, in the nominations for vice-president, making her only the second woman so honored. This lot consists of a 6" paper "ribbon" and a hand-painted 3.5" button both with the slogan "India For Veep".  Both pieces are rare and Exc.
