Item Description
1.75". No maker but w/union back stamp. Spring pin holds 3" ribbon as well as a smaller ribbon loop which once held an attachment. Many different PM10's were produced for Mays so take a good look at the photo on this button to see if it is one needed for your collection. Shown in San Francisco Giants uniform, he played for this franchise 1951-52, 1954-72. Widely regarded as one of the greatest all-around players of all-time, Willie Mays, affectionately known as "The Say Hey Kid", began his Major League career during the summer of 1951 with the New York Giants and would go on to an amazing 22 year Major League Baseball career. Willie would finish with a career batting average of .302 along with 660 home runs and 1,903 RBI's. Mays would win the National League's MVP award twice as well as finishing in second place in the voting on two other occasions. Mays would be selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. Ribbon shows wear and aging. Button has some air spots under the cello and surface wear but all mostly only seen in reflected light. Still glossy. Fine. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
