3.75x6.5" Gateway Stamp Co. Philadelphia, PA ink stamp 9/28/1981. Ted Williams (1918-2002) shown in Boston Red Sox uniform. He began his MLB career w/the Boston Red Sox in 1939, where he immediately displayed his prowess to become one of the best hitters in baseball, finishing in fourth place in the American League MVP voting his freshman season. "Teddy Ballgame" would go on to spend his entire 19 year career w/the BoSox, famously becoming the last man to bat over .400, when he finished at .406 in 1941. Williams would go on to win two American League MVP awards and finish in second place in the voting on four other occasions. Williams' final career numbers were astonishing, a .344 batting average along w/521 home runs, 1,839 RBI's, 1,798 runs scored and an all-time record .482 career on-base percentage. Commemorates 40th Anniversary of .406 batting average set in 1941.Ted would be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. Signed in black ink. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
