Sierra disc game.The Hobbit is an action-adventure game developed by Inevitable Entertainment for the PlayStation 2. It was published by Vivendi Universal Games subsidiary Sierra Entertainment. Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's 1937 novel of the same name, it has no relationship w/Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. At the time, Vivendi, in partnership w/Tolkien Enterprises, held the rights to the video game adaptations of Tolkien's literary works, whilst Electronic Arts held the rights to the video game adaptations of the New Line Cinema films.
