Item Description
In 1911 four tobacco brands Red Sun, Old Mill, Turkey Red and Helmar produced a fabric baseball card known as "silks" They were folded into cigarette packs and given away as a promotion to encourage brand loyalty. Similar to the baseball cards these S74 silks used the same images of players used on the famed T205 baseball card set.
Joe Tinker was a professional baseball player and manager. He played from 1902 through 1916 for the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Chicago Whales of the Federal League. He was a two time World Series Champion in 1907 and 1908. Joe Tinker was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1945.
