Item Description
26x30" matted w/17.5x21.5" opening. Text at top reads "Republican Nominations" w/the names of the state senate and state assembly candidates below, most notably Benjamin Walworth for state senate. Text at bottom reads " Republicans Awake! Your country calls you to the polls--obey her voice!!! The Panic-Bank-Whig-Party are rallying preparatory to the great contest in 1836. To the polls, then, and vote for men who go for New York's 'favorite son'--for Van Buren and Democracy! Let all be active and victory is ours." Van Buren was successful in his campaign for the presidency, however Walworth was defeated in his bid for the state senate. Some surface loss on paper in first column of text about 3/4 of the way down. Moderate handling wear w/scattered creasing and edge wear that is concealed by the matting. Displays VF.
