Item Description
The Button Gum Co. took the idea of a trading card in a graphic waxed wrapper with chewing gum and packaged a button instead of a card. Among the themes that could be collected as sets of buttons were: baseball, presidents, western frontier heroes and Indians and movie stars. These are 13/16" litho, no maker's name, which were printed with inks both susceptible to wear and not cleanable as the ink is water soluble. In this set, these show light wear: Colbert, Cooper, Dietrich, Eilers. These four are Fine and the other 21 are VF to NM. Superstars include: Tom Mix & Tony, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Buster Keaton and Will Rogers. Overall a very high grade set.
