Item Description
2.75x4.25x4.5" tall. Attributed to Thomas Haig, Jr., Philadelphia, PA. Base has hand inscribed "1846" in cobalt. Molded stoneware bank in the form of a log cabin w/hard cider barrel by door on each side. Perched atop the cabin roof is a hand molded raccoon. Cobalt blue highlights decorate edges and ends. One door is slightly open serving as the slot for coin placement. Small restoration to one chimney that is seamless and only seen under black light. Displaying Exc. Highly desirable to both stoneware, bank and political collectors these banks attributed to Haig are among the most sought stoneware forms from Philadelphia. Produced between 1840-1850 in stoneware, redware, and rockingham ware w/few examples known in each style. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
