Item Description
6" dia. Meissen crossed sabers hallmark and "James Madison 1809" on verso. Listed in Arman as  AIII.50 on page 257. A browntone polychromed quatrefoil portrait of Monroe framed in gold against a dark blue background makes this an eye dazzling artifact. One of the scant few pieces that can be dated to Monroe's presidency. Only trivial wear. NM. An important rarity of superlative quality from a celebrated French manufacturer that is the only example we have encountered in our 57 years. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
