Item Description
21.75x25.25" frame w/17.25x21" opening. Perched eagle w/wings spread as center w/draping of purple threads in ornate center frame flanked by 32 star American flags each w/two patriotic tassel adornments at top of pole. The 32 star flag represents the addition of Minnesota on May 11, 1858 and lasted only one year indicating this was likely made during the pre-Civil War period. Frame has handling wear. Textile itself has only trivial age. Exc. A gorgeous example of the type of activity American Naval personnel participated in on the long journeys away from home.
