It left Baldonnel Aerodome, Ireland on April 12 and landed, in a peat bog, on Greenly Island, Canada April 13. Quickly some 60 journalists crowded on the tiny island to report the event. The fliers tried for two weeks to repair their airplane, but failed, and thus arrived in New York City for their tickertape parade on April 30 where the majority of these buttons were sold as souvenirs. Pictured on row #2 buttons are the owner Ehrenfried Gunther Freiherr von Hunefeld, a wealthy German aristocrat, and Captain Hermann Kohl, the pilot. The final eight buttons picture all three.
