Item Description
Each is 1.25". No maker. Powell was a Baptist preacher-turned-Congressman from New York who served from 1945 to 1971. He was an advocate for civil rights and an opponent of colonialism across the world. He was the first African American Congressman elected from New York. In 1967 and 1968 Congress held investigations into Powell and alleged financial misconduct. The committee found that Powell was guilty of several of these charges. Despite these findings, Powell was re-elected in 1968 before ultimately being defeated in his 1970 re-election bid. These pins retool the "NAACP" acronym for the purposes of defending Powell and highlight Powell's efforts to push back against the attacks and allegations against him. Left pin has only minor wear and is NM. Right pin has light wear and is Exc.
