El Puro was a Spanish adult comic publication similar to the MAD Magazine here in the US. Pop culture topics were often lampooned alongside general comedy content, as seen in the two pieces of Star Wars-inspired original art offered here. Art is from El Puro #35, published in June 1984. Both pieces were used as part of a collage on back cover, lot comprises two of four images (three of which are Star Wars-related). Watercolor and ink original art on textured paper, measuring 9.5x9.75" and 9.75x10.75". Smaller piece features mosquito w/bent proboscis seeking medial aid, relating his attempts to suck blood from a figure clearly meant to depict C-3PO. Larger piece shows two victims of a car crash being taken away on stretchers, human victim heading toward hospital, C-3PO character heading to garage. Both have been signed "Bastida" at bottom left. Back of each have sizing marks and notation regarding which page of publication they would appear on. Both are Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the magazine this back cover art was created for.
