Each colorized card shows an artistic rendering of the athlete with his name, position and team denoted in a white border area at the bottom of each card. Several players exist in more than one pose or background color, adding to the difficulty in compiling a master set. Cards carry advertising backs.

Roy Allen Hartzell played in Major League Baseball from 1906 to 1916. Hartzell started his career with the St. Louis Browns (now known as the Baltimore Orioles), and was later traded to the New York Highlanders (now New York Yankees) for two players, Jimmy Austin and Frank LaPorte.
