Variations, errors and oddities in 1952 Topps include each card in Series 1 (#s 1-80) being found in Black Back and Red Back configurations. 1952 Topps Baseball Card Set is the most popular sports card set ever produced and surpassed all earlier sets in size, quality and quantity.

Gilbert Ray Hodges  was an American first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played most of his 18-year career for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers. He was widely regarded as the major leagues' outstanding first baseman in the 1950s. Some career highlights include being a eight time All-Star, hitting four homer runs in one game in 1950, a three time Gold Glove award winner and a three time World Series Champion. Gil Hodges was elected to the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2022.
