Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage glossy silver gelatin postcard depicting 12 team members in full uniform posed in a single file line on a ballfield. Identification in lower left-hand corner reads "Frederick's Champion Ball Team '09". The 1909 Frederick ball club was a member of the Sunset League. One of the team's star players, Dick Nallin would go on to become an American League umpire. Image quality of the photograph is superb and back identifies "The Etchinson Studio," in purple on right border. Divided postcard back contains a handwritten message in red ink on one side w/the recipient's address on the other and has been postally cancelled w/a date of Jan. 16, 1910. Corners exhibit lt. even corner wear, back of postcard includes foxing around the edges. Fine. Richard Merkin Collection.
