Item Description
Issued in 1914, these 5-1/4" square flannels were wrapped around several popular brands of tobacco. The flannels picked up the nickname blankets because many of them were sewn together to form bed covers or throws. Different color combinations exist for all ten teams included in the set.

Walter Johnson played Major League Baseball from 1907-27, spending his entire career with one team, the American League's Washington Nationals. Johnson's final pitching totals are staggering, a win-loss record of 417-279 with a career ERA of 2.17 and a record 3,509 strikeouts at the time of his retirement which would not be surpassed until the 1980's. Walter won his only World Series title in 1924 with other personal accolades including two MVP awards, three pitching triple crowns and five ERA titles. WaJo was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 as one of its five inaugural members.
