Item Description
5" tall. 3" dia. base. 1.75" dia. shaft w/domed cap connected w/chain. "1776 Centennial 1876" above portraits of candidates w/names "Tilden/Hendricks" below. Mfg. name and Pat date at top of shaft "Excelsior /Pat. July 4, 1876". Originally had spring loaded device (missing) inside to feed the candle to the top as the candle burned. Does not affect display. Cap is discolored from use as a snuffer. Repeated lithographed design shows wear from use. A matching Hayes - Wheeler is known. VG. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
