Item Description
5.5x11".  A facsimile from the New York Herald Tribune, dated March 3, 1956. Features a portrait of Gamal Nasser, the Prime Minister of Egypt. The article included quotes from Nasser praising Eisenhower and his administration, including his wishes that Ike be re-elected in 1956. At bottom is text reading "Kings County Committee for Stevenson-Kefauver-Wagner." Nasser was an Egyptian nationalist and his authoritarian tendencies and human rights violations were criticized by many leaders in the U.S. and around the world. This "endorsement" by Nasser was used against Ike in the 1956 campaign. Light scattered wear. Overall still Exc. John Pendergrass Collection.
