Item Description
2.25" w/ union bug in center below portrait. Only minor wear. Biden attended the Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner in Des Moines as a first step in his eventual 1988 bid for the Democratic nomination. At the dinner he spoke of the poor standing of the Democratic Party at the time, which had just been badly beaten in 1984 with a landslide victory for Reagan over Mondale. He said, "We Democrats aren't just about programs. We are about optimism and opportunity and passion and excitement. We have a sense of adventure, a little bit of heart and a whole helluva lot of courage." Larry Brokofsky Collection.
