Item Description
2.25x3.75" card stock w/a blank back. Information hand-written in ink as issued includes the recipient name "Tom Reekie", "6th", "Dec....52", "Ralph Kiner" and "Deanna Bunchiarti" and printed text info as issued includes "THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT...is a member of the original RALPH KINER FAN CLUB date this...day of...19... HONORARY PRESIDENT...ACTIVE PRESIDENT. " Very rare membership club card, not just the only third party graded example, but the only one we have seen or offered in our 58 years. Card has rounded corners as made. Card remains bright and clean. Eye appeal far exceeds the designated grade, which takes into account added typed/inked information as issued. However, this should not be looked at as a defect. Ralph Kiner was an American Major League Baseball player and broadcaster. An outfielder, Kiner played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and Cleveland Indians from 1946 through 1955. Following his retirement, Kiner served from 1956 through 1960 as general manager of the Pacific Coast League San Diego Padres. He also served as an announcer for the New York Mets from the team's inception until his death. Though injuries forced his retirement from active play after 10 seasons, Kiner led all of his National League contemporaries in home runs between 1946 and 1952. Some career highlights include being a six time All-Star and seven time NL Home Run Champion. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975.
