Item Description
13" tall classic doll by Ideal Novelty & Toy Co. 1940. Movable head and upper body are composition while rest is wood-jointed. Complete and all original w/original red fabric cape retains strong color. Capes for this doll were produced using a variety of material types, this being of heavier material. Original staples connecting cape to body have been replaced by tacks w/their head having been painted red to match cape. Doll has had some professional restoration to upper body (which shows some hairline crazing to chest, not overly distracting) and head, but chest decal is complete and original. Only trace remnants of belt decal remain. Wooden segments of arms and legs show just trace aging/wear. Fine overall but displays much above grade, retaining strong eye appeal. Doll can be posed for upright display. The very first Superman figure and a nice example as partially restored. Danny Fuchs Collection.
