Item Description
9” tall. Washington (facing left) obelisk w/Cordwainer’s Arms reverse. Banner reads Nulla Invertitur Ordo, translating roughly to Order is not Inverted by Violence. Cordwainer’s were delineated in Britain from cobblers, as leather craftsman who created shoes rather than repaired. One figure here holds a man’s boot and the other a woman’s shoe w/goat heads (the traditional leather of the time) inside the crest. Unseen in Arman. Showing in auction records only once, which appears to be this example w/the EMC monogram under spout. May be unique. Free of cracks or chips, one trivial mark in the original transfer that affects obelisk. Exc. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
