Letters stand for Motion Pictures Theatre Owners and their event took place at the Ambassador Hotel with Mary Pickford opening the convention attended by 1,000 delegates. The lion shown, posing on his stool, was actually named Tanner. He was M-G-M’s third longest used lion (22 years).
