Item Description
8" tall by 15.75" in length. Jaw-dropping Famille Rose Medallion Covered Hot Water Dish w/gilt pine cone finial ordered by First Lady Julia Dent Grant from China trade merchant Daniel Ammen in 1868. Exquisitely decorated w/USG monogram on base and lid. While pieces from this extensive service do enter the market, substantial display pieces like this are rare. This example last sold through Sotheby's in 2001 and comes w/original listing page from that sale. Remarkable condition w/very little wear. Exc. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
