Item Description
4.5x7.5". Dated March 9, 1796. Dewitt Clinton went on to serve as Mayor of New York City, as well as Governor of New York and United States Senator. His uncle, George, also served as Governor of New York, and was Vice President under both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. DeWitt Clinton was only 27 years old at the time of writing this letter, prior to his political career, as he was not elected to the NY Assembly until 1798. Moderate wear, w/loss at top center. Vertical crease down center w/moderate edge wear and handling. Fine. Comes w/JSA LOA.
