Item Description
Thornton W. Burgess (1874-1965) was an American conservationis and author of children's stories (particularly known for his tales featuring animal characters, many illustrated by Harrison Cady). By the time he retired, he had written more than 170 books and 15,000 stories for his daily newspaper column. Offered here is 3x5" unlined index card w/inscribed message in black ink from Thornton to his "Young Friend," offering wishes that he would be able to return to school soon. He signs card, adding "With Greeting From All The Little Folk Of The Green Meadows And The Green Forest" and dating message "Feb. 12, 1942." Exc. Comes w/JSA COA.
