Item Description
See previous lot. 5.5x8.5" 16-page booklet that was only available via mail order. Series B (1975-76) booklet, complete w/all 100 different stamps, each published as part of various Marvel Comics of the day, designed to be cut out of the comics and glued into this album. Booklet has been signed by total of 20 Marvel creators; 19 on front cover alone - Stan Lee (1922-2018), John Romita (1930-2023), Marv Wolfman, Joe Sinnott (1926-2020), Neal Adams (1941-2022), Len Wein (1948-2018), Frank Brunner, Chris Claremont, Gene Colan (1926-2011), Dick Ayers (1924-2014), Rich Buckler (1949-2017), Roy Thomas, Steve Englehart, Gary Friedrich (1943-2018), Larry Hama, Bob McLeod, Herb Trimpe (1939-2015), Denny O'Neil (1939-2020) and Gerry Conway. Tom DeFalco has signed back cover. Signatures were obtained in-person at various comic book conventions between Nov. 2008 and Oct. 2011. This series presented 10 different puzzle images, w/stamps forming individual pieces (all shown online). Puzzles include - Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer, Conan, Dracula, Thor, Dr. Strange, Captain America and Stan "The Man" Lee. Given the sheer number of stamps in this series, obtaining them all and completing each puzzle was a difficult task. As these comic book stamps were meant to be cut out, it had a detrimental effect on the value of those comics now. Stamps feature art by the likes of Jack Kirby, Herb Trimpe and Neal Adams. Back cover has spaces provided for nine additional stamps that were to be acquired at "Comic-Art Conventions." While these stamps are not present and these spaces remain unused, all stamps in the regular series are present. Book has some scattered spots of staining on back cover, but front remains clean and displays Exc. Stamps remain Exc. as applied. Truly a one-of-a-kind piece for the Marvel collector. Duke Caldwell Collection.
