Item Description
1.25". No maker. Dated October 2, 1938. Text on right translates to "I was there" while text on left is a quote from Goethe that roughly translates to "hold one's ground resisting all powers" or to "maintain yourself amid all resistance." This quote was commonly used in Nazi Germany. The German-American Bund was an organization founded in 1936 w/the purpose of promoting a favorable view of the German Government under Hitler's Nazi rule. Its most infamous act was organizing the pro-Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden in 1939. Bold color w/only minor wear. NM. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
