Item Description
7" long. Henry Clay quote at bottom reading "We Should Never Dispair Of The Republic." Three tiny holes at bottom along w/a few scattered pulls and areas of thinness. Fine. Produced for the famous/infamous 1841 inauguration in which Harrison braved the cold and wet day without a coat or a hat to deliver a two-hour speech. It was long believed that this exposure to the elements eventually led to his death by pneumonia, although recent scholarship is his death may have been a result of typhoid fever or enteric fever. Rare. Only the third example we can recall encountering in our 58 years. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
