Item Description
Large 14.5x18.25x5" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains all plastic assembly kit No. 470, ©1964 Universal Pictures Company Inc. Box design by Aurora artist James Bama includes great large portrait image of Frankenstein as portrayed by Glenn Strange plus photos of model being assembled and put into action. Box notes assembled model is almost two feet tall w/arms that move up and down. The largest monster figure kit Aurora ever released, it was designed by Marvin Glass, who also designed Mr. Machine, Mousetrap and the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots among others. Box has some scattered surface rubs, edge/corner tip wear and one bumped corner but is still bright, glossy and in much nicer shape than usually found. VF overall. Frankenstein comes w/headstone piece and chain which attaches to this. Parts are black/light and dark gray plastic, chain links in bronze/copper plastic. Plastic model kit is complete and unused, w/contents factory-sealed; bag containing chain stapled as issued, while other three bags are original and knotted as issued. Original tissue paper wrap that was around the three jars of paint (still tightly sealed w/tape as issued). Instruction sheet, Model Motoring flyer and paint brush included. Original rubberband is missing. A few pieces are loose from sprue including all of the chain links, but unused and NM as packaged. Affectionately referred to in the hobby as "Big Frankie" this kit is considered to be the holy grail of Aurora models by most collectors.
