Item Description
3x6x8" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key. Made in Germany by Distler, c. 1930. This tin litho toy is often found w/missing or replaced parts, however this example is 100% complete and all original. The large Mickey Mouse figure is attached to and pushes a street organ that features multiple images of him. Separate small Minnie Mouse figure on a metal rod is attached to the top of the street organ. Again, this Minnie figure is usually missing or replaced but this is complete and original. Mickey even has his original spring tail. Toy works and as Mickey turns the crank, Minnie figure dances and musical notes are produced. Front side of hurdy gurdy has slight fade to dark blue seen on back of toy; fade being more significant to top of hurdy gurdy and to curved section of front bearing two small images of Mickey Mouse. All else remains bright w/strong color. Scattered tiny paint nicks/scratches w/trace oxidation to top of one of Mickey figure's feet. Fine example of this rare wind-up, one of the most coveted 1930s Disney toys. Thom Carchedi Collection.
