Item Description
The Star Wars Holiday Special was originally broadcast on CBS Nov. 17, 1978. Set between the first Star Wars film and the then yet-to-be-released sequel The Empire Strikes Back, it saw the main cast reprise their roles to film new content. The special also featured an animated segment produced by the nascent animation studio Nelvana of Toronto, Canada. The 10-minute cartoon was entitled "The Faithful Wookie," and served as an introduction to the popular bounty hunter Boba Fett. Offered here is an original hand-painted production animation cel w/color copy bkg. 10x13" acetate sheet has 2.5x4.5" hand-painted image area, showing Boba Fett's helmeted head and neck as he appeared in the special. Color copy bkg. Shows pair of Imperial Stormtroopers w/cityscape in bkg. Bottom of cel has added acetate binder strip labeled as "15.4 – BH.9." Cel has been taped to larger color copy sheet, w/overall size of 11x14-3/8". Some lt. handling wear to acetate sheet, but would make for Exc. framed display. Comes w/pair of 10.5x13" animation sheets w/pencil original art used in production of the special. First sheet has 2.5x4.75" image area in lead pencil closely resembling that seen on cel. Bottom is marked "15/4 – BH-1" in pencil. Second sheet has 7x9" image area in lead/blue pencil showing Boba Fett from chest up, w/o head. Jetpack and Wookiee braid clearly visible as they appeared in the special. Bottom is marked "15/4 – BB-18." Both are Exc. Rare and historic original art from the segment that introduced one of Star Wars' most enduring and popular characters. An absolute must for any serious Star Wars collector or Boba Fett fan. Ross Pender Bounty Hunter Collection.
