Item Description
2.5x3.25". ©1938. ACC# R69-2. A total of 288 cards were issued in this all-time classic non-sport issue. Each card front has choice full color art w/often incredibly violent and intense graphics depicting the ravages of conflict and other war settings, with detailed text on the reverse. There are also two types of promotional backs, both are included in this lot: pre-printed text (3) and "Lucky" ink stamp (11). The pre-printed cards were done for #s 49-72 and scarcer 97-120. Promo text notes "1000 Cash Prizes To The 1000 Children Who Send Us The Neatest Lists Of 240 Correct Titles." Obviously done prior to the set expansion of 288 cards. The variety w/ink stamp text on backs reads "You're Lucky! You Get A Package Of Cards Free." Cards run between 49-190.
All cards are CGC graded. Grades and number of cards per are as follows - 4.5 VG/EX+ (1 card) - #76; 3.5 VG+ (1 card) - #119; 3 VG (2 cards) - #166 and 190; 2.5 Good+ (1 card) - #188; 2 Good (5 cards) - #49, 54, 58, 67 and 120; 1.5 Fair (1 card) - #59; 1 Poor (3 cards) - #56, 62 and 110.
