Item Description
8x11.5" overall. Features portraits of the 1936 national Republican ticket, as well as Charles Wayland Brooks. Text on handle reads "Compliments Of Vermillion County Republican Central Committee". Slight even age toning on handle, otherwise light wear. Overall Exc. The Landon/Knox ticket lost in a landslide to FDR, and Brooks lost his gubernatorial bid to Henry Horner. Brooks went on to win narrowly in a special election in 1940 to fill the vacancy in the Senate following the death of J. Hamilton Lewis. Brooks was re-elected to the Senate in 1942 and served until 1949. Bob Atwater Collection.
