Item Description
10-5/8x15-5/8" artboard has pen and ink original art for page 21 (story page 1) of Superman Family #187, published by DC Comics Feb. 1978. Art was for "A Phoenix Of Steel" story by Gerry Conway w/art by lontime Superman artist Curt Swan (1920-1996) w/inks by Jack Abel (1927-1996). Page features six panels, showing Superman of Earth-Two using the Justice Society of America's Transmatter Machine to travel to Earth-One in an attempt to cure his version of Jimmy Olsen, for a freak accident to bring the interplanetary warlord Krogg to Earth-One where he attacks the other Superman. Top panel shows both Earths alongside "Superman" title/logo stat. All but this first panel features either Earth-Two or Earth-One Superman. Top margin has strip of white tape at left w/inked title and issue/page numbers. Top margin has been trimmed slightly, but does not affect art. Aged strip of tape at top center, tape staining at bottom center. Back has DC copyright inkstamp and initialed "Photographed" inkstamp. Art remains clean and Exc.
