16.25x23.75". Leading political & cultural figures of the day playing together in a children's gynasium, all to model their Nazareth athletic gear! NYC Boss Chauncey Depew watches the foot race w/McKinley in the lead, Harrison, Reed, Allison, Peffer, Carlisle & finally Cleveland in last place. Vignettes from left to right : Lilian Russell & Cissy Fitzgerald fence as a reference to their on stage rivalry, famous strongman Sandow lifts weights, a Lincoln inspired Uncle Sam figure boxes John Bull, "Turkey" juggles allies at the end of the Ottoman empire, two figures reference the Chino-Japanese War & Teddy Roosevelt does a hand stand on gym bars! All figures (w/the exception of the Lincoln styled character who is titled Uncle Sam) are named on their belts. Dated March 28, 1896 & Titled "The Problem of How to Underclothe Boys & Girls Properly is Solved by the Nazareth Waist". Nazareth Mfg. Co, 52 Leonard St. New York. Economist Cartoon No. 1. Loss to margin white & parts of the surrounding text w/ puncture above indian clubs on back wall. Does not affect figures.  Vibrant colors, exceedingly rare & whimsical beyond belief.
