Item Description
2.75" tall. Sweet natured Lia Graf, a young Jewish-German woman who immigrated to the United States to tour w/Barnum's circus was not ready for the celebrity that a photo-op sitting on the knee of financier J.P. Morgan would bring. After two years of press, she decided to return to Germany only 22 years old. By 1937, she was arrested as a "useless person" by the Nazi regime & was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp w/her parents in 1941. Her family is believed to have been murdered there. The naivety of this photo stands in such stark contrast to her personal story. Minor scuffing w/wear to mirror's silver. Fine.
