Item Description
9.25x12" display board has 4.75x4-5/8" thin artboard affixed w/clear plastic corner mounts. Artboard features pen and ink original art w/image within 3.75" dia. circle. Art depicts one of the Dick Tracy characters subset, w/hand-lettered "Vitamin Flintheart" name below art and "Copr. 1946 Famous Artists Syn." hand-lettered text along top. Penciled note at upper left refers to removal of cigarette/cigarette holder (w/faint pencil circle around this area), which are not seen on produced button. Art remains clean and Exc. Back of display includes separate 4.5x4-7/8" square sheet of onionskin paper w/red/yellow/fleshtone colors which, when placed over the bw art, provides the colors for the finished button. This also has pencil note reading "Take Out Cig. Holder & Smoke." Top margin is uneven and margins of this sheet are mounted w/thin strips of double-sided tape to acetate sheet that can be removed from back and placed over art. Paper has quite a few thin ripple lines, but these do not detract visually. Unique and historic button art. Comes w/example of the pin in custom case for display.
