Item Description
1.25" with American Artworks paper. Famous as racer and for record-setting point-to-point drives, often sponsored by cycle or car manufacturers. He was victor in 1909 first race held at newly-built Indy speedway. His 1914 transcontinental drive resulted in his nickname derived from Cannon Ball train of Illinois Central made famous by Casey Jones. His NY-LA 1933 drive in 53.5 hours stood as record nearly 40 years. Later he became first Commissioner of NASCAR. Button is c. 1920. About second seen. Exc. and displays Mint.
