8x9.75". Hardbound. 1945. Collection of 100 political cartoons drawn by Elmer Messner, political cartoonist for The Rochester Times-Union. Covers the war years 1941-1945. Bold and expressive images. The first image in the book is printed on high gloss paper and is a reproduction of Messner's portrait by James Montgomery Flagg. Each cartoon is arranged consecutively, many with additional captions below. Many depict Uncle Sam, Hitler, Tojo. Frontispiece with bold 4" signature and "'46" date. Light surface dust to cover. Fine. Contents lightly aged, but clean and Exc. First signed copy we've seen. Comes with Hake's COA.
